No-Chella for Kanye West

Billboard has just released an article explaining the reason as to why Kanye West has pulled out of Coachella this year.

West allegedly wanted to build a giant, high-tech dome in the middle of the Polo Fields where only he would perform. He was told by senior executives at Goldenvoice, Cochella's parent company, that it would be "impossible" to build in the four months leading up to the two-weekend festival. Ultimately, Goldenvoice denied him that request and it irritated him. He was also told that previous big names, such as Lady Gaga and Beyoncé had incredible performances just using the already-massive main stage, however, West wanted to express his "creative vision" as an artist.

In the end, Ariana Grande filled in for West as the Sunday closing headliner thanks to her manager, Scooter Braun (who was also West's former manager that West dropped in December 2018). The article also confirmed that Tame Impala was bumped up from sub-headliner to main headliner to fill in for Justin Timberlake, who had to pull out due to his bruised his vocal chords, which forced him to reschedule his Man of the Woods Tour dates that conflicted with weekend one of the festival.
