Although Davido's musical roots are deeply West African, he's American by technicality. David Adeleke was born in Atlanta, Georgia, but was raised in Nigeria. As he got older, he bounced between the two continents before finding success in his trademark sound, which is effortlessly danceable afrobeats that seamlessly blends hip-hop, R&B, highlife, and dancehall. Luckily, his dual citizenship has made him more accessible to other artists to collaborate, thus reaching a more global listening audience.
