BIA

Origin: Boston, Massachusetts, USA 🇺🇸
Genre / Subgenres: Rap / Trap, Luxury rap, Pop rap

Last-minute add, BIA was introduced to the world on the reality TV series Sisterhood of Hip Hop, but her momentum wasn't in full swing until a few years later, when she released music independently, and the minimalist trap song "BEST ON EARTH" turned into a breakout hit. The bed-squeaking banger is still her most played track to date, but she has plenty of hidden gems. She also flexes her confidence and pen game by keeping up with rap giants like J. Cole and Denzel Curry. Her approach to collaborations is strategic and tends to go viral due to the signature minimalism, glossy production, and icy delivery. BIA's demeanor is so calm, yet commanding, probably because she tends to rap about wealth, independence, and power. Do you wanna hear a real alpha? She's it.

Performing: Saturday
Stage Prediction: Gobi
For Fans of: Saweetie, Flo Milli, Latto
Rating: ★★★★

Morat

Origin: Bogotá, Colombia 🇨🇴
Genre / Subgenres: Pop / Latin pop, Folk pop, Pop rock

Morat is made up of purely Colombian members, but they experienced their breakthrough in Spain, where their music seemed to resonate more with a younger indie audience. An extra boost came when famed Mexican superstar, Paulina Rubio, collaborated with the band on "Mi Nuevo Vicio", and it was nothing but up from there. Although their music is in Spanish, there's a familiarity in the melodies they design, and it feels like it has sentimental value. It feels Western-inspired, but always remains 100% Morat. Coincidentally, I'm ending my Coachella listening journey with them because "reflection" and "bittersweet" are words that tend to describe their content, but so is "growth." The sense of optimism when one of their songs concludes is palpable, and it only makes me want to listen to them even more.

Performing: Sunday
Stage Prediction: Outdoor Theatre
For Fans of: Reik, DVICIO, Bacilos
Rating: ★★★★
Ratings are on a 5-star scale
