Levity

You want disgusting, filthy, nasty beats? Try on Levity. The Chicago trio looks non-threatening, but they make the type of music that'll make you scrunch up your face and bang your head at the barricade. Their breakout moment came when they filled in as a last-minute replacement at Electric Forest in 2023, and footage of their set went viral amongst the bass-music community. Soon thereafter, they were no longer the club openers and became the main event. Their music is designed to trigger awe-like reactions from the crowd and rely on call-and-response interaction to keep the hype alive during live sets. Intricate stage production and laser shows are also a huge component of their sets, making for one unhinged, intergalactic spaceship ride.

Groove Armada

Origin: London, England
Genre / Subgenres: Electronic / House, Downtempo, Big beat


Chances are you've already heard a Groove Armada song if you grew up in the '90s. Their music became ubiquitous with movies and ads, especially the cinematic track "At The River". By the early 2000s, the duo became one of the most prominent electronic acts during the golden era of UK club culture, alongside other big names like The Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim. There's a specific fluidity of sound that Groove Armada has, and that's purely deliberate. They play around with many tempos and moods to get their point across and set the tone, whatever that may be. There's a fair balance of club energy and laid-back grooves with analog textures thrown in the mix as well. If this isn't what it sounds like to chill out, then I don't know what else does.
