Boys Noize

Origin: Hamburg, Germany
Genre / Subgenres: Electronic / Electro house, Techno, Electroclash

I have a confession to make. I've always thought Boys Noize was a duo, and I've recently learned that it's just one guy. Now that that embarrassing fact is out of the way, Mr. Noize has been making his rounds in the music industry for a couple of decades now and has found himself in the company of so many high-profile artists that the list looks made up: Daft Punk, Frank Ocean, Lady Gaga, A$AP Rocky, Rico Nasty, Skrillex, Ty Dolla $ign, Depeche Mode, and Snoop Dogg. On top of that, he's performing a second undercard set with Nine Inch Nails at Coachella, but more on that later.

The reason Boys Noize has worked with an array of musicians is his ability to adapt to their styles and leave his signature, high-impact sound on their tracks. His base is electronic, but he's got an industrial edge that's uniquely him, and why he's so sought after. What he concocts is a hybrid of electro, techno, and acid that simultaneously feels retro and futuristic. It's no wonder Nine Inch Nails felt a strong connection to him and decided to produce a set with him. They mesh perfectly. Boys Noize is someone who's always imitated and never duplicated. I challenge you to find someone doing it just like him.

Young Thug

Origin: Atlanta, Georgia, USA
Genre / Subgenres: Rap / Southern hip-hop, Trap, Mumble rap

A pioneer of the Atlanta mumble rap movement, Young Thug is regarded as one of the most influential figures in modern hip-hop and trap. His eccentric vocal delivery is unmistakable, his flows are experimental, and his fashion is always three steps ahead. Like many other rappers, he spent his early days dropping mixtape after mixtape until something stuck and stood out. In 2013, he signed to Gucci Mane's record label, and he immediately became mainstream. Barter 6, Slime Season, Jeffery, and So Much Fun are just a few of the mixtapes and albums that have received high critical acclaim and built a cult following. It's Thug's consistency that's kept him relevant all these years, earning him a sub-headlining spot at this year's festival.

Performing: Sunday
