TOMORA

Origin: Manchester, England, UK 🇬🇧 / Stavanger, Norway 🇳🇴
Genre / Subgenres: Electronic / Alternative electronic, Art pop, Psychedelic electronic

The very last name on the lineup poster always piques my interest because it typically means they're the least well-known act and will get the earliest time slot for whichever stage or tent they're placed at. As it turns out, the duo is made up of two very established musicians: Tom Rowlands of The Chemical Brothers and AURORA, the Norwegian singer-songwriter. So, TOM + AURORA = TOMORA. A funny thing happened when I listened, and before I looked them up in depth. I thought, "This sounds a lot like AURORA." Then I laughed to myself like an idiot.

They decided to mysteriously pop their name up on festival posters before anyone knew who they were, starting with Coachella. Taking the last slot was a bold move since most people usually don't pay them any mind. However, once people started to figure out who they were, the hype spread like wildfire. With only three (very good) songs to their name, the anticipation for their collaborative album couldn't be more real. It doesn't release until the second weekend of Coachella, but here's to hoping their analog-heavy, big-room rave music burns the house down. Either that, or you will be making contact with the aliens.

Performing: Sunday
Stage Prediction: Gobi
For Fans of: Underworld, ANOHNI & The Johnsons, Orbital
Live Set: N/A - Live debut at Coachella
Rating: ★★★★

Turnstile

Origin: Baltimore, Maryland, USA 🇺🇸
Genre / Subgenres: Rock / Hardcore punk, Alternative rock, Melodic hardcore

If there's one act that I absolutely cannot miss this year, it's Turnstile, and you should listen to them too if you're not already. NEVER ENOUGH, which just earned two Grammys, was my favorite album of 2025 (the visual album is just as incredible), and from what I've seen from their live sets, I'm in for some sweaty, brutal fun. It's often said that seeing them perform on stage feels more like a celebration rather than a fight, like most rock shows tend to be.

The appeal of the Baltimore-based band is that they make heavy music feel joyful, colorful, and accessible without watering it down. There's just something about them and their sound that will grip you and cease to let go. It's some of the most exciting, loud, abrasive music you'll hear in your life, but it's all about positive mental attitude (PMA), self-love, and embracing the moment. Now it's your turn. I'm sure you'll love their style.

Performing: Friday
Stage Prediction: Outdoor Theatre
For Fans of: Fugazi, Refused, Angel Du$t
Key Tracks: BLACKOUT / NEVER ENOUGH / SOLE
Rating: ★★★★★★ (Yes, 6 stars! They broke the scale!!!)
Ratings are on a 5-star scale
