Major Lazer
Origin: Los Angeles, California, USA
Genre / Subgenres: Electronic / Dancehall, Moombahton, Reggae fusion

Who knew a couple of white guys would spark a revolution in some of the most impactful dancehall-inspired music of the 21st century? Diplo's borderless project would eventually lose its co-founder, Switch, and super contributor, Jillionaire, but would then eventually pick up Walshy Fire, Ape Drums, and their first-ever in-house vocalist, America Foster.
Major Lazer fully embraces the absurd (their mascot is a futuristic Jamaican war hero with a fucking laser gun for a hand?), has single-handedly internationalized dance music by breaking down barriers, and has explored scenes that EDM wouldn't normally venture into. Just look at who they've collaborated with over the years: Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Marcus Mumford, M.I.A, J Balvin, Vybz Kartel, Alessia Cara, Joji, Ellie Goulding, Bruno Mars, Beyoncé, Santigold, and Andy Milonakis. That's just a minor dent in the long list of names they've shared studio time with. At one point, Major Lazer and MØ held the title of "Most Streamed Song of All Time" with 2015's "Lean On", a song that truly exploded and still bangs to this day.
