Suicidal Tendencies

Origin: Venice, California, USA
Genre / Subgenres: Rock / Crossover thrash, Thrash metal

One of the very few legacy acts that Coachella booked this year is none other than Suicidal Tendencies. Formed 46 years ago in Los Angeles, the crossover thrash band has gone through a revolving door of members. I'm talking over 30 different musicians from various bands, including Metallica, Daughtry, Avenged Sevenfold, The Mars Volta, Social Distortion, and Slayer. Even Thundercat was their bassist for nine years. Their lead vocalist, Mike Muir, is the only member to have been with the band since its inception and has extended their legacy through multiple generations. Suicidal Tendencies is undoubtedly one of the most influential thrash metal bands of all time, laying the groundwork in hardcore, slashing guitar riffs, aggressive vocals, and high-velocity drums.

Performing: Sunday
Stage Prediction: Mojave
For Fans of: D.R.I., Anthrax, Slayer
Rating: ★★★★

KATSEYE

Origin: Los Angeles, California, USA
Genre / Subgenres: Pop / Global pop, Dance-pop, Electropop

Girl groups are so back! The sextuplet was an overnight success after they were formed through a reality competition series. Though they're technically Los Angeles-based, the members are from all over the globe, spanning from the Philippines, Korea, Switzerland, South Korea, and of course, the United States. Being so diverse gives them international appeal and a reach that artists don't normally have right off the bat. Who cares that their lyrics don't have depth or even make sense at times? Their catchy hooks, Y2K aesthetic, and fun-to-watch choreography make them great entertainment.

Performing: Friday
Stage Prediction: Sahara
For Fans of: LE SSERAFIM, BLACKPINK, XG
Key Tracks: Internet Girl / Gabriela / Debut
Rating: ★★★★½
