Justin Bieber
Origin: London, Ontario, Canada
Genre / Subgenres: Pop / Dance-pop, R&B

Justin Bieber was actually discovered by accident. His former manager, Scooter Braun, was searching for videos of a different artist on YouTube when he came across Bieber's cover of Ne-Yo's "So Sick." He was so impressed that he tracked his mother down, and she was convinced to let her son sign a record deal at 13 with Braun and Usher. Almost two decades later, and you probably know more about him than you care to admit. Whether it be his music, his personal life, or his antics ("It's not clocking to you that I'm standing on business?").
But we're here for his music. There's no denying that he has a near-endless catalog of pop hits that dominate the radio. He seems to be strategic when it comes to collaborations, and he writes what he knows. He's not afraid to be an open book to the world. Sonically, he has evolved. His debut was very bright, tween-pop, but as soon as he hit puberty, he quickly pivoted to more mature pop. He also blended elements of R&B, EDM, hip-hop/trap, and even gospel. He still stuck to his pop roots, but made cleaner, sleeker music as time passed by. Each era of his life (adulthood, marriage, fatherhood) can be reflected in whatever he decides to release at any given moment.
