She may be the only Chinese-Icelandic traditional/jazz pop singer under the age of 30 to exist on the planet, actually, and she's the perfect gateway artist if you're a young listener who wants to dip their toe into that specific genre. Laufey grew up studying classical cello and piano, which is undoubtedly integrated into all of the music that she makes. The way she sings is so distinct and possibly unlike anything you've ever heard. It's so warm, inviting, and nostalgic, you'd think she was straight out of the 1950s, but she's just your typical Gen Z, social media-loving girl.

Whenever she goes viral on TikTok, she uses it to her advantage by reintroducing jazz, orchestral pop, and classic songwriting to a new generation.
